far from boring, this is fantastic. the light really comes out at you, it's awesome (like a clear, starry sky, not like awesome socks.)

Yum, the water is amazing, so are the colours, reminds me a lot of Belleville Rendez Vous + Metropolis - the new one.
Really good pic!!

wow. .. . .
really cool!!
ha!

i apparently did not put on DA a pic in which i tried to convey what most struck me about F., which is the way you saw the huge HUGE dome towering over and past narrow alley like streets, the contrast in scale was amazing, and i get something of that in your picture, though its clear that that isn't your primary aim, since among other things you have three domes not one. anyway love it good work.

I like this, especially the reflection of the lights. Perhaps, though, you could make the sky a bit darker to add greater contrast? Just a thought ;).

Very nice, +fav this one, I love the lighting and all but the shadows on the domes looks very fake, maybe you could touch that up with a brush or two.

Anyway, I have a few questions, did you start out with an base image or was this all created from scratch? If it was created from scratch, how did you do it, it looks great. Finally, what did you do to make the spot lights? I can do something similar to that but not as good. Was it just a lighten brush or what?

oh and to answer your questions, i used a few pics of various architecture as reference, and put them together myself to make a layout (unlike my palette tester pic)

the spot lights:

-new layer
-polygonal select tool
-select the shape of spotlight
-fill white
-lower opacity of layer to desired transparency of the light beam against the sky
-gaussian blur

Ah, sweet, thanks! I never could get it quite right, I always tried to use low opacity brushes and such, never even though of just a normal shape, cool.

Yeah, I really do under-use the brush but I really havn't found it to be that useful. Maybe I'm missing something or whatever but I find that layers and filters are my main tools with brushes etc. being secondary. If you have any place with good tips on brushes then please let me know.
